Top 10 Fall Family Activities

Fall is finally upon us, which means that there’s a lot to do with your kids. It’s a great time to enjoy the cooler weather and to spend lots of time outdoors. Here is our top ten lest of fall activities that you should do with your kids.

Go camping. Camping in the fall is absolutely delightful. You and your kids can explore a new area and share stories while starring up at the starry sky in your sleeping bags.

Carve pumpkins. Pumpkins are pretty much everywhere so why not carve one with your kids. Even if you aren’t much of an artist, you can find several templates online that can help you turn your pumpkin into a masterpiece.

Bob for apples. Now is the time to fill a big bucket with water and bob for apples. Just be prepared to get a little wet! Of course if you are lucky enough to be near one, go pick the apples as a family.

Make a fall wreath. A fall wreath is easy to make and can dress up your front door. You can get a plain Styrofoam wreath at a craft store and add things like fake or real leaves to it.

Go on a nature walk. There’s a lot to see this time of year. One of the best ways to do this is to go on a nature walk with your kids. You can explore a national park or just walk around your neighborhood.

Make a scarecrow. Scarecrows are fairly easy to make. You will need to take two boards and nail them together so they look like a cross. Then put a shirt and overalls over it and stuff them with hay. For a head, you can place a jack-o-lantern on top of it.

Have a toy donation party. With Christmas being so close, now is a great time to go through your children’s toys. In order to make your kids enthusiastic about it, turn it into a party. Put on some music, set out a few snacks and make it fun.

Make Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations. While buying holiday decorations are quick and easy, it’s definitely more fun to make them with your kids. No matter how old your kids are they can contribute something. You can do everything from paper mache’ pumpkins to turkey handprints.

Build a campfire. Campfires are perfect this time of year. Have your kids help you build one and then call the neighbors over to roast marshmallows with your family.

Visit a farm. Many farms have fall activities going on including hayrides and corn mazes. Your family can have a great time participating in these activities as well as learning about the farm.
