Christmas Traditions You Should Start With Your Kids Now
We know that you are very busy this holiday season. However, now is a great time to start some traditions that your children will remember throughout their lifetime. All of these traditions will allow children to get into the holiday spirit and give back to the community in some way. Even with a to do list that is probably a mile long, you can probably fit in a few of these activities this holiday season.
Bake Cookies To Give Out
Most children love to bake cookies. Even your littlest helpers can get in on all of the fun by cracking eggs or stirring the ingredients together. Once you are done with these goodies, take your kids to the local fire station to pass them out to the firefighters. Not only will your kids get to meet some community helpers, they can give all of these hardworking men and women a well-deserved treat.
Visit A Nursing Home
Visiting a nursing home will allow your kids to bond and learn from a different generation. It will give the elderly something to look forward to as well. Prepare for your visit by calling the nursing home attend of time and finding out when is a good time to visit and what you are allowed to bring to give out to the residents.
Go Caroling In Your Neighborhood
Unfortunately, caroling seems to not be that common anymore. You can still keep this tradition alive by going caroling with your kids throughout your neighborhood. Make it fun by practicing songs for a week or two before you go caroling. Bring candy canes and handmade cards to pass out to your neighbors as well.
Send Out “Thankful” Notes
Instead of sending out cards this Christmas, mail out “thankful” notes. Help your kids make a list of people that they are thankful for. Then have them write a note to that person that lists all the reasons why they are thankful for that person. It will surely bring a smile to the face of the recipient.
