Getting Your Fitness Regimen Back On Track
Now that the holidays are over it’s time to think about fitness. When you have kids it can be hard to make a routine and stick to it. Well, we’re here to help! Here are some ways that you can start a fitness routine this New Year even if you have a bunch of little ones running around at home.
Lose The Guilt
Often times as parents we tend to feel guilty when we take any time away from our kids to spend it on ourselves. It’s time to lose the guilt and realize the healthier we are, the better parents we can be. Instead of feeling guilty about not focusing on your kids for a short period of time to exercise, think about what a positive impact you are having by showing your kids how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Work Around Your Kid’s Schedule
Just because you can’t fit fitness into your day because of your work or kid’s school schedule, doesn’t mean you can’t get in a small workout. Set aside some time in the morning, before your kids get up, to exercise. Or if you aren’t a morning person or exercising before work just doesn’t appeal to you, make a period of 15-20 minutes your time to exercise after your kids go to bed.
Get The Kids Involved
As a parent you know that if you tell your kids something, they probably aren’t going to forget it. Use them to help remind you of the fact that you are trying to stick with a fitness routine. You can also get them involved by having them do some age appropriate exercises with you.
Make Small Goals
In order to stick to a fitness regimen you must set small goals. They can be something as simple as you working out for a week straight and treating yourself and your kids to a movie. The key is to not to set a goal that’s too out of reach or you will find yourself getting discouraged because you aren’t able to achieve it.
