Baby Products – the basics of what you really need
There are so many options when it comes to products for your baby. It is very easy to over buy and fill your house with things you will never use. Most baby guides like What to expect when you are expecting have this huge list of items they suggest you buy before the baby arrives. The truth is that this list contains many items that are a total waste. At the times that I was pregnant none of my friends had kids yet so I could not ask them. Now, I have kids and they are all having babies so with my years of wisdom I can clue them in on what is a waste.
About Baby Care Products
Just because it has a high price tag does not mean it is the best. In recent years some amazing space age looking strollers have hit the market. I really cannot imagine buying an $800 stroller that my child will puke on and out grow like any other stroller. When I was shopping for a stroller I always checked to make sure it was not too bulky or heavy. You will be the one lugging this thing around town so make sure you are comfortable with it. One your child gets a little older I suggest the MacClaren line of strollers. They are worth the money and can grow with your child.
Ok, so lets get back to the basics of what your will need. Food – decide whether or not you will breast feed or need formula, diapers – newborn size, clothes – simple onesies and pajamas, a car seat, a high chair – but you could wait a few months, a changing table, and a crib. With the world on online shopping I would suggest you check online for the best deals and read the reviews from other parents.
Food, formula milk or breast milk. Talk to your doctor or future pediatrician about what formula they suggest. Ask any necessary question of a lactation consultant before the baby arrives so that you know what to expect while breast feeding.
Diapers, hands down each child has used the Pampers brand of diapers. Their newborn diapers fell almost cloth like and they worked well for us. I did try to buy whatever diapers were on sale but quickly learns that you get what you pay for.
Really take sometime to research what you want to buy before you go shopping. Take the advice of other parents and read what they have to say about the products. Remember, they too were in your position and if they took the time to talk about a product either good or bad it really can be a huge help when making your decision. Good Luck and Congratulations!
