Nickelodeon is encouraging you to be active and healthy so they just turn off the network. Yes, you read this correctly, on Worldwide Day of Play Nickelodeon goes completely dark so you can go out and play. Nickelodeon encourages you to bring family and friends together to host a worldwide day of play celebration in your own community. This year, Nickelodeon is bringing Worldwide Day of Play to Washington, D.C.! You and you family are invited to celebrate on the Ellipse on the National Mall for a day of family-friendly activities hosted by the best professional and youth sports, health and wellness and community partners. Featuring the cart of iCarly, Victorious, The Fresh Beat Band, True Jackson V.P., Family Brain Surge, Supah Ninjas and a Big Time Rush Concert.
The Worldwide Day of Play is now in its 8th year. It is an entire day dedicated to Play where Nickelodeon goes dark for three hours, turning off programing to encourage kids to get up, get out and go play! Every year, Worldwide Day of Play is celebrated with more than 3,500 local events in 13 countries! First Lady Michelle Obama will join Nickelodeon in celebrating the network’s seventh annual Worldwide Day of Play by sharing a special message to encourage kids to exercise more.
