Kid Friendly Firework Destinations
The 4th of July is right around the corner. With it being on a Saturday this year, it might be a good time to make it a three day weekend and head over to one of your favorite bigger cities for a little bit of Independence Day fun. We’ve included four big city, kid friendly firework destinations for you to check out, and hopefully fit in a last minute family vacation.
Washington, DC
This city puts on one of the grandest 4th of July celebrations in the country. One thing that kids love (besides the fireworks) is the parade. It features marching bands, drills teams and of course, many floats that are red, white and blue. If you plan on attending this event with young children, remember that it can be very hot and crowded so bring plenty of water and leave the stroller at home unless it’s absolutely necessary to bring it. The fireworks start around 9:15 p.m.
Orlando, FL
Many parts of Orlando are kid-friendly which makes it a great destination for July 4th. In particular, Walt Disney World has a spectacular fireworks display as well as daily parades to complement it. If you can, get up early and go to the park and then leave midday so your kids can go back to the hotel and take a nap. That way, everyone will be well rested and able to stay up to watch the fireworks that go off after 9 p.m.
New York, New York
Macy’s puts on a 120,000 fireworks display, which they claim to be the biggest display of fireworks in America. It can be viewed pretty much anywhere along the Hudson River. Make sure you arrive early to get a good seat. Don’t forget to bring activities along to keep your kids entertained since the show doesn’t start until around 9:15 p.m.
