Fall Birthday Party Ideas
The time of year for pool parties may have passed, but never fear; if your child has a fall birthday, this can be a wonderful time to plan a party. School is in session, so your child has easy access to all the friends he wants to invite. And the season easily lends itself to some great possible themes and activities for parties. Also, there are all kinds of fun fall treats you can prepare. If you’re planning a party for your little one anytime soon, here are some fun ideas to help you make this birthday one to remember.
- Themes. For an October birthday, consider a spooky, Halloween themed party for an older child. For a younger child, or one who isn’t interested in spooks and ghouls, consider a fun costume party, and give out small prizes for the most creative costumes. For a November birthday, plan a party with a harvest theme. Alternatively, plan a sleepover, and have a campfire night, with tents in the backyard, S’more’s and roasted hot dogs, and, of course, campfire tales.
- Activities. If you’re having an October party, what could be more appropriate than pumpkin decorating? You can carve pumpkins with older children, but if you have small kids or you just don’t want the mess, your young guests will be just as happy to paint their pumpkins. If you’re having a costume party, be sure to include a costume contest in your schedule of activities. A hayride can be a fun party activity any time during the fall months. Another activity that will keep a group of children entertained and busy is leaf pie jumping. Save bags of your raked leaves and turn them into a giant leaf pile, perfect for jumping in. Speaking of fall leaves, the fall foliage can provide perfect cover for an outdoor scavenger hunt, fun at any time of year.
- Treats. Did you know that October is National Pizza Month? Incorporate this into your October baby’s birthday party. You can order pizza or make pizza rolls. Forgo the traditional birthday cake and make a dessert pizza instead. Bobbing for apples is a fun fall activity, and you can include apple related treats in your menu… kids will love apple juice or hot apple cider, apple pie, or even plain old apple slices. If your party activities involve pumpkin decorating, serve the kids roasted pumpkin seeds. For a harvest themed party, serve hot, filling foods like chili, corn on the cob, biscuits, and pumpkin pie.
The fall months are a fun and exciting time of year. The weather is changing, and with the cooler days and nights comes all the anticipation of the coming holiday season. It’s an excellent time for a birthday, and the possibilities for celebration are endless.
